WHAT STARTED AS A KITCHEN RENOVATION GREW TO A LARGER PROJECT THAT TRANSFORMED THIS STUNNING PEMBERTON HOME, ORIGINALLY BUILT IN 1939. ARCHITECT MICHAEL STOUSE OF STOUSEDESIGN JOINED THE TEAM TO HELP CROWELL BUILDERS AND ASHBY COLLECTIVE GIVE A BREATH OF FRESH AIR TO THE TRADITIONAL ARCHITECTURE. THE HOMEOWNERS ARE YOUNG PROFESSIONALS WHO WANTED A RELAXED, REFINED AESTHETIC. A NEUTRAL COLOR PALETTE EVOLVED WITH A REFINED MIX OF MATERIALS TO ACHIEVE A WARM, THOUGHTFUL HOME. THE KITCHEN WAS RELOCATED TO THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE HOUSE TO ACCOMMODATE MORE COOKING AND ENTERTAINING SPACE. THE MAIN BATH WAS REDONE AND FINISHED WITH PLASTER WALLS AND CEILINGS, INCLUDING IN THE SHOWER. DETAILS INHERITED FROM THE ORIGINAL ARCHITECTURE WERE LEFT IN PLACE SUCH AS THE MOLDINGS, FLOORS, AND INTERIOR DOOR HARDWARE TO PAY HOMAGE TO THE HOME’S FORMER LIFE.
