THIS STUNNING MODERNIST HOME LOCATED ON A QUIET INLET OFF OF LAKE AUSTIN UNDERWENT A DRAMATIC INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR TRANSFORMATION. EXQUISITE MATERIALS, FURNISHINGS, AND ART ARE REVEALED UPON ENTRY AND ARE SET IN HARMONY WITH THE NATURAL TERRAIN BEYOND. MUCH OF THE FABRICS, RUGS AND CABINETRY ARE CUSTOM, BESPOKE AND STAND AS WORKS OF ART OF THEIR OWN. DESIGNED TO TAKE WORKING AT HOME TO A NEW LEVEL, THE DINING ROOM DOUBLES AS AN ELEGANT CONFERENCE SPACE WITH A HIDDEN STAINLESS STEEL PULL-OUT WHITEBOARD FOR MEETINGS. THIS METICULOUS HOME WAS RENOVATED BY DALGLEISH CONSTRUCTION COMPANY WITH ARCHITECT TOBIN SMITH, AND BEAUTIFUL OUTDOOR SPACES BY TEN EYCK LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTS.
Christina Simon, the lead interior designer on the project, aimed to create that feeling with vintage furniture, dramatic materials like pyrite wall tile in the home bar and a custom silk rug in the primary bedroom, and by making smart use of Ms. Napier’s many collections, which include insect specimens, pepper mills and serious art.
THE NEW YORK TIMES
Upon entry and at every turn, exquisite materials, furnishings and art were carefully curated, and the home thoughtfully reimagined for the homeowners’ professional use. But ultimately, it serves as a private getaway where relaxing family time takes priority.
