WHEN THE HOMEOWNERS CONTACTED US TO DESIGN THEIR NEW AUSTIN PIED-Á-TERRE, THEY HAD ONE GOAL IN MIND: TRANSFORM A SPEC HOME INTO A BEAUTIFUL CUSTOM SPACE FOR ENTERTAINING. BOTH ARE UT ALUMNI AND WE HAD EXTRA BONUS POINTS FOR ADDING A LITTLE BURNT ORANGE TO AN OTHERWISE COLORFUL AND FUN PALETTE. NEW COUNTERS AND CABINET SURFACES, VIBRANT TILE, AND JOYFUL PAINT CHOICES HELP TO ACHIEVE THIS GOAL AS DOES THE ADDITION OF CUSTOM HARDWARE AND FURNITURE, DESIGNED IN HOUSE. ASHBY COLLECTIVE CREATED SEVERAL CUSTOM PIECES FOR THIS PROJECT INCLUDING A LUXURIOUSLY SIZED SECTIONAL, A WALL-TO-WALL VELVET PATTERNED BED AND A RUST MOHAIR BED THAT ALL ADD TEXTURE AND REINFORCE AN OVERALL ELEVATED LOOK. WE HAD THE PLEASURE OF SELECTING ALL OF THE DISH-WARE, LINENS, AND ART WITH THE HELP OF ARMSTRONG ART CONSULTING. A TRUE HEAD TO TOE MAKEOVER.
Spec homes are new builds usually finished in a
way that will appeal to the most buyers, so they
often feel like generic blank slates. The goal was
to make this home feel anything but.
